Join speakers from the national Medical Group Management Association and the Pennsylvania Medical Society to hear important updates on the current federal and state legislative climate.

While significant legislative and regulatory changes reshape the healthcare landscape in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Matt Devino from MGMA will present an update on the current state of federal healthcare policy affecting medical groups. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of these changes and their impact on the day-to-day activities of medical group practices, in addition to being directed to clarifying resources. Specific topics include updates to the CARES Act Provider Relief Fund, Paycheck Protection Program, Medicare Quality Payment Program, proposed 2021 physician fee schedule, and a host of other timely issues.

David Thompson from PAMED will then provide a state
election recap, including changes to the political landscape, and what lies ahead for legislative issues in 2021 at the state level. David will highlight ways that you can advocate for your medical practice in the coming months.

About the Speakers

Matt Devino, MPH
Associate Director, Government Affairs
MGMA

In his primary role as a government affairs member liaison, Matt Devino works to inform membership of the federal rules and regulations impacting medical group practices around the country. He works closely with MGMA state affiliate chapters in the Eastern and Western regions to organize grassroots efforts and is a frequent speaker at state and national meetings.

Matt holds a Master of Public Health degree with a Health Policy and Management focus from The George Washington University and a bachelor's degree in Human Developmental and Regenerative Biology from Harvard University.

David Thompson
Senior Director, Legislative Affairs
Pennsylvania Medical Society

Mr. Thompson’s career in the political arena began in 1985 as a legislative assistant to then Senate President Pro Tempore Robert C. Jubelirer.  After several years in the senate, Mr. Thompson joined the ranks of “former senate staffers turned lobbyists” and began his tenure with the Pennsylvania Medical Society in 1988.

As part of the Society’s lobbying team, Mr. Thompson has focused his efforts on building political awareness within the physician community while at the same time educating lawmakers about physician issues that may affect their constituents.  During his eight years as Executive Director of the Medical Society’s political action committee, PAMPAC, Mr. Thompson helped to create and manage a number of statewide physician grassroots campaigns for judicial candidates.  PAMPAC’s impact on the outcome of judicial elections continues today as more and more physicians recognize the importance of electing fair-minded jurists.
